What Is SPARK Ipswich Arts Festival?
Across the city, Ipswich becomes a vibrant playground of colour, music, movement and light. At the heart of SPARK is local talent, shining a spotlight on Ipswich artists and giving audiences the chance to experience bold new work.
The Nicholas Street Precinct is SPARK’s Creative Hub — a buzzing, day-to-night focal point packed with free, family-friendly programming during the school holidays. During the day, you can expect a hub of hands-on creative play, street theatre, workshops and live music, designed to spark curiosity.
Then, as the winter sun goes down over the Bremer River, the whole precinct shifts into something else entirely.
The precinct shifts with illuminated installations, projections, performances and pop-up experiences
that make you feel like you’ve wandered into a different city altogether.
Last year, an estimated 45,000 people attended SPARK Ipswich
— and with the 2026 program shaping up to be bigger and bolder, expect those numbers to grow.
