What Is the Lasso Country Music Festival?

Lasso was built from the ground up by the father-daughter duo Ken and Ashlyn Dinsdale from Goldspur Entertainment — created to provide a more accessible and local festival to fans, while also giving emerging artists a platform on a proper festival stage.

Lasso is produced with a commitment to showcasing the authentic heart of modern Australian country music. Following the sold-out 2024 Lasso CMF and a buzzing 2025 event, Lasso is a fresh new take on what country music festivals are all about.

This festival is the perfect entry point to country music for busy urban people who want a night out, not a holiday and a second mortgage.

And that ethos shows in every decision — from the accessible ticket price to the free undercover parking and the proximity to two of Queensland’s biggest cities.

The 2026 Headliner: Drake Milligan’s Tumbleweed World Tour

Texas sensation Drake Milligan brought his Tumbleweed World Tour to Eagleby — known for his Elvis-inspired swagger and traditional country roots, Milligan delivered an electrifying performance.

The Texas-born singer-songwriter has quickly become one of country music’s most talked-about new voices, praised for his traditional influences, charismatic live performances, and crossover appeal.

Known for blending classic country with early rock ‘n’ roll energy, Milligan has built a reputation as a modern traditionalist with serious stage presence, returning to Australia riding the momentum of his new album Tumbleweed, a confident follow-up to his 2022 debut Dallas/Fort Worth.

With Brisbane his #1 Spotify city for monthly listeners (with Sydney and Melbourne also in his Top 5), Drake also played concerts in Melbourne and Sydney as part of his July 2026 Australian run.

His Lasso appearance was the crown jewel — and the first time an international artist has headlined the festival.

Festival Director Ashlyn Dinsdale said: “I’m incredibly proud that we get to host Drake Milligan at Lasso. We started this festival with the goal of delivering fresh, modern line-ups while creating real opportunities for emerging artists. Having Drake headline in 2026 not only fulfils that vision, it genuinely exceeds what we imagined was possible at this stage of the festival’s journey.”

The Full 2026 Lineup

Joining Milligan at Lasso 2026 was a diverse, carefully curated roster of Australian talent: The Wet Whistles, Austin Mackay, Tyla Rodrigues, Briana Dinsdale, Michael Honan, Jaydin Shingleton, Jay Santilli, Riley Ziskey, Beau Shearer, and Phoebe Rose.

With such an impressive lineup of rising stars and emerging talent, Lasso highlighted the next generation of country music.

The 2026 edition was held across two stages — an outdoor main stage and an indoor, free-entry acoustic stage

— meaning even those who hadn’t grabbed a paid ticket could catch acoustic performances inside the venue all day.

Beyond the Music: What Else Was On

Lasso isn’t just a concert — it’s a full day out.

In addition to music, festivalgoers enjoyed great food and drinks, artisan markets, official merchandise, and artist signing sessions.

Lasso loves fan-to-artist connection, which is why all acts are invited to say hi to their fans at the festival. The signings were held directly next to the merch tent.

The Lasso Long Weekend

Lasso CMF did a full weekend takeover with Distillery Road Market, providing three days of country music fun — including a line dancing session with Gilly’s Line Dancing on Friday 10th July in the Outdoor Entertainment Precinct, to warm up for Lasso on the 11th.

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday 12th July with two top-tier acts: Piper Rodrigues and Open Season Band. Best of all, the Lasso Long Weekend events were completely free and all ages.

Food options include Zarraffa’s Factory Direct Cafe, Sugarcreek Smokehouse, Perentie Brewing Co., Posadas Mexican Kitchen, Wing It and Slice It

Why Lasso Is Different from Every Other Country Music Festival

The Dinsdales are doing some heavy lifting — not just for bringing people to country music, but for showing a new option for music festivals. One-day, convenient, and bucking the idea that you have to be a million miles from anywhere, Lasso is showing a new path for suburban music.

No camping gear. No marathon drives. No second mortgage.

You can do your Saturday morning rituals, grab a bite of lunch, and head on in — 45 minutes from Brisbane or the Gold Coast.

That’s a genuinely rare thing in the Australian festival landscape.
