Queensland Food and Drink

Rooftop bars, reef-to-plate seafood, cellar doors and farm-gate tastings across Queensland

Taste the state

Queensland eats well. Mud crab and prawns come straight off the boats, tropical fruit grows in the Daintree, and the Granite Belt makes high-altitude wines that now win national awards. In the cities, rooftop bars and small wine bars sit alongside classic pubs, while the hinterlands are full of cheesemakers, distillers and craft brewers who are happy to show you around.

Use this guide to find somewhere to eat, drink or taste your way through a region. Pick a region below, or filter by the kind of experience you are after: a long winery lunch, a brewery tour, a sunset cruise or a night out in the city.

Plan your food and drink trip

When is the best time for a food trip in Queensland?

Winter and spring (June to November) bring dry, mild weather in the north and crisp days on the Granite Belt, which is ideal for long lunches and winery visits. Many regions also hold their food festivals during these months.

Do I need to book?

Book tours, winery experiences and rooftop brunches ahead, especially on weekends and school holidays. Many cellar doors take walk-ins, but small producers and farm tours often ask you to call first.

How do I get around a wine region without driving?

Join a guided tasting tour. Most operators in the Granite Belt, Scenic Rim, Tamborine Mountain and Sunshine Coast hinterland include transport, so everyone can enjoy the tastings.
